Inside a church in Kreuzberg, Sarah Davachi played her slow drony songs on the church organ on a Sunday. This sounded surreal to me in so many ways, so I decided to design a poster for it. Lately, I have been researching a lot on design history, and I found a beautiful magazine cover from Yusaku Kamekura, all the way back to 1957. I really enjoyed the composition, but my favourite element was these spikes that cross the surface horizontally. They looked similar to the tubes in the church organ, and I thought they could be presented abstractly if I played around with the right colours. My goal was to use these spikes as a reference and create something new from them. My first draft didn't look like what I had in mind, so I decided to try something else, with a darker mood. This is how I got into the poster that you can see here.
