I first listened to the soundtrack that Hildur Guðnadóttir composed for Chernobyl when the series premiered on HBO. I thought that the music that she wrote was beautifully haunting me, and it became one of my favorite albums from 2019. When I realized that Hildur Guðnadóttir was about to perform at CTM Festival in Berlin, I knew I had to be there to watch it happen, and I knew that I would need to design something for it. My goal was to create something with a Soviet feel to it and with colors that would reflect the danger of Chernobyl. I picked up some screenshots of some of my favorite scenes from the series and decided to use them in a similar way, following a design template I created. Six posters were designed, but I was happier with the results in four of them, but you can see it all below.
